I like Shane Meadows because he started from the bottom in Staffordshire and Uttoxeter, his mum worked in a fish and chip shop and his dad was a long distance lorry driver. He then moved to Nottingham which is where im from at the age of 20, knowing that he started his filming career in Nottingham, Sneinton is inspiring. He made about 30 small films around the area with friends he had made. he couldn't show anyone them as there were no film festivals. His friends made one which is now a popular attraction of the city now days. Even as his directing career has taken off he still films around the Midlands.
Shane tends to make similar genre films like Crime, Drama, Thriller and of course Social Realism - these four Genres are the basis of our hybrid film genre without a doubt which is another reason why he's inspiring.
He has won 1 Film BAFTA and 1 TV BAFTA, Another 21 wins globally and 19 nominations.
